You must kill the rider meaning do enough damage and a single darrt or 2 isnt enough. A weakness of horsemen is that as soon as they are damaged, the horse goes berserk and charges about at random, often straight into a pit, so anything with a little damage (even darts) well before your killzone will deal with them. A well-known but useful trick is inferno near the entrance. Slime or freeze to slow the horsemen down. There are only two Tier 3 options, with the third being taken by Empowerment.
